Which option should I choose?

Drive Only. Ship us just your Batocera hard drive (USB or internal SSD/M.2). Best if you’re comfortable removing the drive from your system. We install Outbreak, upgrade Batocera, and ship the drive back.

Full Console. Ship us your entire console or arcade PC (no controllers, power adapters or HDMI cords needed). Best if you’d rather not open anything up. We handle everything and ship the whole unit back tested and ready to go.

FAQs

Will I lose my games or saves?

Your games stay. Your saves are your responsibility to back up first, and we cannot recover them afterwards, so please copy them off before you ship anything to us. It takes about ten minutes over your home network. Here is the step by step guide.

One thing worth knowing: normal in-game saves, battery saves and memory card files carry over fine once you copy them back. Save states, the instant snapshots made with the hotkey, are tied to the exact emulator version that wrote them and may not load after the upgrade.

What Batocera version do I need to be on?

Any version. We upgrade every system to Batocera v43 as part of the service. that’s included in the price.

Should I choose Drive Only or Full Console?

What if I have a custom setup or theme?

Tell us what matters and we will work around it. Include a note with your shipment listing the settings, themes or layouts you want kept. An upgrade to Batocera 43 does move some things, and a few older themes are not compatible with it, so we will not pretend nothing changes. What we will do is keep what can be kept and tell you plainly about anything that could not survive the jump.

Do I need to do anything after I get it back?

Just plug it in and play. Outbreak auto-updates in the background, so you’ll always have the latest version without lifting a finger.

Can I install Outbreak myself instead?

Absolutely. Outbreak is free to install yourself with a single command. Visit outbreakarcade.com/setup for the guide. This service is for anyone who’d rather not deal with SSH or risk the Batocera upgrade themselves.

How long does the service take?

We install, upgrade, test, and ship your system back within 72 hours of receiving it.

Who pays for shipping?
